Fix #13

After the last fix, I was ready to say goodbye to Stitch Fix. I emailed them and explained why I was leaving and what I thought could be improved on. They were very nice when they responded and asked if I would be willing to try again with a senior stylist assigned to me. After some back and forth, I agreed to give them one more shot if they credited the styling fee.

I was impressed when I got my note from my stylist. I had asked for something to wear for an upcoming audition. She was very thoughtful and even researched the character I am going for. I was also happy to see that everything was fitted.

Loveappella
Fifi Lace Overlay Knit Top

This was one sent to me for my audition. I instantly fell in love with it. It has a lace overlay on the front and back. It is very comfortable and can be easily dressed up or down. This was Steven's favorite piece as well. My only complaint is that I felt it was an inch or two too long.

Conclusion: Keep

Skies are Blue
Disanto Lace Detail Top

I loved the fit of this shirt and the color. It has a lace detail on the front that went too far down the chest for me. Steven actually really liked this shirt, but I couldn't get over the placement of the lace. It felt bib-like.

Conclusion: Return

Loveappella
Celso Mesh Detail Knit Top

I was on the fence with this one. It was very comfortable and I loved the fit. It would be a great every day shirt, which I need. It has a black mesh detail near the shoulder on each side. Steven thought I was it was too busy. Black is such a still color and I think had it been a blue or white, it would have worked better. I feel like it overpowered me a little.

Conclusion: Return

Loveappella
Genifer Tie-Back Knit Top

This was the other shirt sent for my audition. My hair is covering it, but I actually liked the neckline. It was in between a scoop and a boat neck. I loved the fit and the comfort. It had a bow in the back that felt strange to me. It felt too feminine, if that makes sense. Steven liked this one, too. To me it was just ok, didn't hate or love it.

Conclusion: Return

Margaret M
Christiana Skirt

Steven and I both loved this skirt. It fit great and I felt like I had a lot of options in my current wardrobe that could go with it. It was a little thin, so I wouldn't be able to tuck my shirt in unless I wanted a huge bump. The big downside was the price, $80. This is not an $80 skirt to me. It's too bad, because I really liked it.

Conclusion: Return

For another shot at Stitch Fix, they did pretty well. I didn't have many complaints, just a few minor things I didn't like. I'm not sure if I am going to continue with them or not. If I do, I would have to alternate between Wantable and Stitch Fix each month because of my budget. Overall, I feel like they did a decent job to redeem themselves.

Wantable #1

After all of the disappointment with Stitch Fix, I decided to try Wantable. I was really excited to see what I would get from this new company.

Jack
Savannah Jacket

I knew I wouldn't like this the moment I pulled it out because I don't like jackets that don't have closures. It was very similar to one I got in fix 10 that I sent back. Plus, I already have a leather jacket and don't feel the need for two. The one think I actually did like was the length in the back. I thought it was cute and flattering. Also, it does have pockets, so that was a plus.

Conclusion: Return

Jack
Alfred Jacket

When I first saw this I was disappointed because I thought it was a cardigan. After putting it on, I changed my mind. I loved that it had buttons so that it could close. It also has pockets, making it more functional. I thought the back added just the right amount of interest to make it a special piece. I also like that even though it has a lot of fabric in front, it didn't totally cover my figure when closed. When Steven first saw this, he was not a fan. His exact word was "Barf!" He said it was too weird for him. However, I really like it, so I'm keeping it.

Conclusion: Keep

Kut from the Kloth
Mia Toothpick Skinny

I'm wearing these ones in the previous pictures. I knew I was going to like these because Kut from the Kloth pants always look good on me. These were just great skinnys and fit better than my current jeans. Yay for more jeans!

Conclusion: Keep

Jack
Rosella Skirt

I loved the weight of the fabric of this skirt. It is a thicker knit, which I love because I can't stand flimsy pencil skirts. I loved the length and fit. The placement of the stripes worked to flatter my figure. This would be a great addition to my wardrobe.

Conclusion: Keep

Project Social T
Jaime Tee

I wasn't too sure about the color on this one. It's cream colored and felt really neutral. However, it is very comfortable and would be a great every day shirt, which I am in need of. I like the fit and the cut.

Conclusion: Keep

Just like Stitch Fix, if you keep everything you get a 20% discount, so I ended up keeping the leather jacket in hopes that I can sell it. If you would like it, I am selling for $64, which is the discounted price, plus $5 shipping if it applies. Please let me know if you are interested. I would hate for it to sit forever in my closet.

For my first Wantable style edit I was pleasantly surprised. I ended up liking almost everything and wasn't expecting to at all. I am looking forward to future boxes.

Fix #12

After the last few disappointing fixes, I wrote a strongly worded note to my stylist about how unhappy I had been with the service. I explained why I was frustrated and that I would not be continuing if things didn't turn around. I was interested to see how they responded.

Fun2Fun
Walden V-Neck Blouse

I actually really liked the color and it seemed like a good basic shirt that could be very versatile. My only reservations was that it was so full of static. From the moment when it arrived to three days later, it was so full of static it just clung to me. Also, not a big fan of the capped sleeves. My sister said it made my arms look weird. I was really on the fence with this one because I could see the possibilities.

Conclusion: Return

Loveappella
Kiana Crew Neck Knit Top

I thought this top was pretty cute, however my husband hated it. He didn't like the different sizes of stripes. Also, from straight on it made me look kind of boxy. Also, it was really expensive for a t-shirt. Ultimately, I'm not going to keep something my husband hates.

Conclusion: Return

41Hawthorn
Berneen Dolman Knit Top

I don't get it. This is the third Dolman top I've received!  I apparently wasn't clear the other times when I stated how much I hate Dolman tops and please never send me one again. One thing I've struggled with Stitch Fix is communication between the stylists. It seems that messages never get through or they don't review enough of the previous fixes. I don't mind the pattern or color. I do mind the sagging look of my arms.

Conclusion: Return

Market & Spruce
Saige Knit Dress

Welp, for starters it was too short for me. Also, the knit fabric was not very forgiving. I like to have less flimsy material for my dresses. Not to mention the crazy lines that hurt me eyes. It didn't look very flattering and added a lot of weight to my hips.

Conclusion: Return

Skies are Blue
Ferris Mixed Material Collared Top

I've been asking for more color and I get black. Yippee. Besides that, I actually really liked the fit and cut of this shirt. It looked flattering, loved the sleeves, and could easily be dressed up or down. I should have moved my hair for the picture because you can't see the pockets. It is a good staple and because I wasn't keeping anything else, I decided I didn't want to lose my styling fee.

Conclusion: Keep

Well, I'm going to take a break from Stitch Fix. The items that I have kept, I really love, but there were way more misses than hits. Out of 60 items sent to me over the last year, I have kept 15. My main problem was that I never really felt listened to and that my style was never understood. There also weren't too many really special pieces that I felt really excited about.

I have decided to try a different company called Wantable, which does the exact same thing. I really love the service and am hoping to find a company that meets my needs better. I'll probably only use Stitch Fix again if I have a credit.
