Fix #12

After the last few disappointing fixes, I wrote a strongly worded note to my stylist about how unhappy I had been with the service. I explained why I was frustrated and that I would not be continuing if things didn't turn around. I was interested to see how they responded.

Fun2Fun
Walden V-Neck Blouse

I actually really liked the color and it seemed like a good basic shirt that could be very versatile. My only reservations was that it was so full of static. From the moment when it arrived to three days later, it was so full of static it just clung to me. Also, not a big fan of the capped sleeves. My sister said it made my arms look weird. I was really on the fence with this one because I could see the possibilities.

Conclusion: Return

Loveappella
Kiana Crew Neck Knit Top

I thought this top was pretty cute, however my husband hated it. He didn't like the different sizes of stripes. Also, from straight on it made me look kind of boxy. Also, it was really expensive for a t-shirt. Ultimately, I'm not going to keep something my husband hates.

Conclusion: Return

41Hawthorn
Berneen Dolman Knit Top

I don't get it. This is the third Dolman top I've received!  I apparently wasn't clear the other times when I stated how much I hate Dolman tops and please never send me one again. One thing I've struggled with Stitch Fix is communication between the stylists. It seems that messages never get through or they don't review enough of the previous fixes. I don't mind the pattern or color. I do mind the sagging look of my arms.

Conclusion: Return

Market & Spruce
Saige Knit Dress

Welp, for starters it was too short for me. Also, the knit fabric was not very forgiving. I like to have less flimsy material for my dresses. Not to mention the crazy lines that hurt me eyes. It didn't look very flattering and added a lot of weight to my hips.

Conclusion: Return

Skies are Blue
Ferris Mixed Material Collared Top

I've been asking for more color and I get black. Yippee. Besides that, I actually really liked the fit and cut of this shirt. It looked flattering, loved the sleeves, and could easily be dressed up or down. I should have moved my hair for the picture because you can't see the pockets. It is a good staple and because I wasn't keeping anything else, I decided I didn't want to lose my styling fee.

Conclusion: Keep

Well, I'm going to take a break from Stitch Fix. The items that I have kept, I really love, but there were way more misses than hits. Out of 60 items sent to me over the last year, I have kept 15. My main problem was that I never really felt listened to and that my style was never understood. There also weren't too many really special pieces that I felt really excited about.

I have decided to try a different company called Wantable, which does the exact same thing. I really love the service and am hoping to find a company that meets my needs better. I'll probably only use Stitch Fix again if I have a credit.

Fix #11

41 Hawthorn
Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse

I just don't love these shapeless blouses. I felt that the length was too long for me and I didn't love the side slits which gave the shirt flaps. The color is wrong, too. I don't think green is my color. I think the blouse is pretty, but the color overwhelming for my complexion. I've seen this look work for others, but I wasn't feeling it.

Conclusion: Return

RD Style
Lana Lace Detail Pencil Skirt

My stylist sent this to me after seeing a similar style on my Pinterest board. The length was perfect and it fit really well. There is something about it that I can't put my finger on. It doesn't excite me. Maybe it just feels too basic. Also, I have a black lace dress already that I don't wear very much anymore, so I don't know how much I would choose to wear it. Overall it is a perfectly acceptable skirt, but I don't want to pay $80 for something I'm not looking forward to wearing. Maybe if it was a different color I would like it more.

Conclusion: Return

Skies are Blue
Tuscany Embellished Side Detail Knit Top

I wasn't quite sure about this one when I saw it. I do love stripes, but the side detail was a little strange to me. I think I would have preferred it to be a zipper instead of sequins. The main problem about this shirt is how boxy it is. My body type is rectangular, so I really need clothes that give me curves. Probably would make a great maternity shirt.

Conclusion: Return

Laila Jayde
Bali V-Neck Top

This top is just weird to me. The color is strange and doesn't reflect anything from my Pinterest board. I don't think it is a good color for me either. It felt way too long for me as well. Also, the fabric feels like a microfiber couch. It doesn't hang on my body well either, so clingy. There was nothing going right for this top.
Conclusion: Return

Bancroft
Jayda Twisted Loop Earrings

These were nice and simple. I don't really have big earrings like this, and there is a reason for that. I don't really like big earrings. Steven said they just looked too big. Also, it drove me nuts that they didn't hang the same way. One was always to the side and the other was always facing forward.  I considered keeping these just so I wouldn't lose my styling fee.

Conclusion: Return

Well, this is the second one in a row where I have sent everything back. I feel like my stylist was really trying, but everything was just missing the mark. I'm going to give them one more chance, but if I send back all my items next time, I'm just going to have to say goodbye.

Fix #10

I couldn't find anything that was sent to me online before I got it, so it was all a surprise. I was excited because I had such a winner last time with this stylist. I was very hopeful.

Absolutely
Bary Boat Neck Pullover Sweater

Nope! The minute I pulled this out, I knew it wasn't going to work. I tried it on and nothing changed. I had asked for more color in my wardrobe and had specified that I don't like loud patterns or busy prints, but I prefer solids. This was an attempt to give me more color. It actually fit really well and Steven said it looked better on than when I first showed it to him. After looking at the picture of myself, it looks cuter than I thought. I just don't love it.

I think the only people that can pull off this look are these fellas.

Conclusion: Return

Kut From The Kloth
Simmons Bootcut Jean

When I took these out of the box my daughter said, "Those are big." After converting to skinny jeans, anything else feels like an excess of fabric. While these pants might be cute and fit perfectly, I just don't like bootcut jeans anymore. I have since taken bootcut off of my style profile.

Conclusion: Return

Gilli
Eleonora Dress

I'm always nervous when my stylist sends me a dress. First off, it is way too bohemian for me. I have told them time and time again that I don't like flowy things. When will they learn? Second, it is just too short, so even if I did like it, it wouldn't work. Also, what is up with the criss cross thing in the front? This dress is not even close to my style.

Conclusion: Return

Kut From The Kloth
Maisha Ponte and Faux Leather Jacket

When I saw that my stylist had sent me a faux leather jacket, I didn't understand why because I just bought one. While I love my jacket I already own, I don't feel it necessary to have two leather jackets. Also, my stylist said that she sent it because she had seen similar styles on my pinterest board. Really? I just looked at my board and I don't see anything that looks like this. All of the leather jackets I pinned have zippers, first of all. This one feels like a glorified cardigan. No no no. It did fit amazingly, though.

Conclusion: Return

Zad
Bessa Enamel Clover Earrings

Oh boy! Not even close to my style. Whenever I ask for earrings I always make sure that I ask them to please look at my pinterest board for ideas. Are they seeing stuff I'm not seeing? Check it out for yourself: Stitch Fix Ideas. Do these earrings look like the ones I pinned? I could totally see someone else wearing these and it working, but not for me.

Conclusion: Return

What is up with that fix? I was so excited because this fix was done by the same stylist as last time. I feel like it was a totally different person. Maybe last fix was a fluke. Who knows? Is my style that hard? Am I being too harsh?

Fix #9

I actually got this fix back in December. I scheduled a new fix immediately after sending back everything from last time. I didn't want to wait until January to get some new clothes. I didn't put anything specific in my note to my stylist.

When my package arrived, I was interested to see that I had a new stylists, Elisa. I had asked to keep the same stylist from last time, to give her another chance. I wonder if you don't get to keep the client if they hated everything. Anyway, I was excited to see what she sent.

RD Style
Adriene Dress

This dress is amazing. It fits wonderfully and makes me feel great. I was thrilled about the length. It has some spandex in the fabric, so it keeps everything in just the right place. Steven said that I can't wear this to church, but any other time would be just fine with him. Love, love, love this dress!

Conclusion: Keep

Kut From the Kloth
Jonathan Skinny Corduroy

I was able to find this one online when I peeked at my fix. I wasn't sure what color I would get. They are actually dark green, but I honestly had no idea until I read the tag. They just looked black to me. They fit perfectly, as if they were made specifically for me. Steven told me that when you find pants that fit, you just have to get them. I agree. I'm glad to be adding something totally new to my wardrobe. I think the last time I had corduroy pants, I was in seventh grade and I got them from the boys section. According to my stylist, these pants are totally on trend right now. Hooray!

Conclusion: Keep

Gilli
Sheri Graphic Print Pencil Skirt

My stylist just "had to send this" because she saw a similar one on my pinterest board. I was a little skeptical because I had one similar sent to me in a previous fix that I didn't like. I was more than pleasantly surprised when I slipped this skirt on. It fit perfectly!  I have learned that not all pencil skirts are created equal. This one was a great length and I feel confident wearing it. Another winner for Steven, too.

Conclusion: Keep

Market & Spruce
Yuna Chevron Pointelle Knit Sweater

There were lots of different colors of this one online. I was happy to see that it was a pretty navy. Even though I have a lot of blue in my closet, I need to retire some of those pieces, so this was a nice addition. Honestly, I was on the fence about this one. I couldn't decide whether or not I really wanted it. It fit great and the only sweaters I have are cheap, shrunken ones from Old Navy that I bought seven years ago. Steven convinced me to keep it, and I'm glad I did.

Conclusion: Keep

Market & Spruce
Colobri Plaid Printed Tab-Sleeve Shirt

I was really hesitant about this one when I peeked at it online. It is slightly out of my style comfort zone. I was expecting it to be made out of flannel, but it actually is a light blouse material. I liked the colors. The only thing I wasn't too fond of was the length of the back. It felt a little like a butt flap to me, but Steven said it doesn't look that bad. It only made sense to keep to get the discount. One thing I like about it is that it has more of a grown-up feel to it, which is one of my main goals about my new clothes. I actually has grown on me and become one of my favorite shirts. And yes, that is a cat tail in the picture.

Conclusion: Keep

Overall, I was really happy with this fix. I got some pieces that I loved and my style comfort zone was expanded a little bit. I requested the same stylist for next time and I'm excited to see what I get. She seems to understand me pretty well, so far.

Fix #8

Another month, another fix. I didn't really have any requests this time, so I was just leaving it up to my stylist to send some stuff. I did request a red dress, but Sunrise said they don't have any that are long enough or have sleeves. Oh well.

41 Hawthorn
 Benton Cowl Neck Sweater

First off, I hate cowl neck sweaters. There is just way too much going on around my neck. So, I wasn't too optimistic when I put this one on. And well, it was horrible. Steven said I looked like a muppet. I really didn't like the color combo either, not enough contrast between the blue and gray. It just fell flat for me.

Conclusion: Return

Skies are Blue
Elam V-Neck Top

I wasn't really sure about this top when I first saw it, but thought it had promise. Really, I just didn't find it very flattering. It felt very secretarial "and not in a good way" as explained by Steven. It looks like I have a sweater vest on, which isn't really my thing. It was also really clingy and full of static. Rosie apparently needed to be in the picture, too.

Conclusion: Return

Bancroft
Trisha Clover Charm Layering Necklace

I was disappointed when I saw that a necklace was sent. I don't really wear necklaces and if I do, it is really simple. This necklace was way too long for me and not my style at all. I will be making sure I mark on my style profile to avoid necklaces in future fixes.

Conclusion: Return

Le Lis
Lexie Printed Aline Skirt

Not super excited about this skirt. Honestly, it was a little short for my comfort when I sat down. I don't think I would have kept it even if it was long enough. It was ok, but not great. It just didn't feel really special to me.

Conclusion: Return

Pixley
Eve Floral Skirt

I was looking forward to this skirt because it was really similar to one I had pinned on my pinterest board. It was a beautiful looking skirt. Unfortunately, it just wasn't flattering at all. Steven said it made my behind look weird and there was no way I was going to pay for that. It made me feel lumpy, too. It was a thicker fabric, which would be great for winter. The length was perfect, I just wasn't in love. The colors did remind me of an oil painting my Grandma had above her kitchen table. :)

Conclusion: Return

Overall, not a great fix. Like I said before, I wasn't specific with what I wanted and I got the results of that. My stylist has been so great with delivering exactly what I have asked for. I'm going to give her another chance to figure me out.

Fix #7

Of course I was excited to get my fix with the same stylist from last time, Sunrise. In my note to my stylist I had asked for a faux leather jacket and some beautiful earrings. In advance, sorry for the yellow tinted pictures. Today was filled with a flat tire, our other car over heating on the way to Instacare and finding out my 3 year old broke her collar bone. So, the pictures had to be taken in the lovely glow of the entry way chandelier.

Papermoon
Tille Embroidery Detail Knit Top

I found this online when I peeked at my fix. I knew it was just the wrong thing for me. I gave it a chance and tried it one anyway, There was no saving this top. It felt a little Peruvian poncho to me and Steven said it reminded him of Pocahantas. I'm sure both references are off, regardless, it wasn't good. Also, what is with the automatic pregnant look? Not cool. The only saving grace was that it was INCREDIBLY soft.

Conclusion: Return

Level 99
Giovanni Straight Leg Jeans

My stylist saw on my Pinterest board that I liked the idea of colored jeans. These jeans actually fit amazingly and I loved how they looked. Unfortunately, I wasn't in love with the rust color. Had they been something of a more pure hue, I think I would have liked them better. The cost made them less appealing as well. Maybe next time.

Conclusion: Return

Market & Spruce
Derick Asymmetrical Knit Top

I didn't know how I would feel about this shirt when I first pulled it out. I felt like it just wasn't that flattering. I didn't love the asymmetrical-ness of this shirt, with one side being longer than the other. It just felt weird. Boo.

Conclusion: Return

RD Style
Rhonda Faux Leather Jacket

Yay, I was really excited for this. I was nervous what Steven would think because he had previously mentioned that he thinks leather jackets look stupid. Unfortunately for him, I fell in love with this jacket. It fits perfect and is super comfy. I couldn't wait to take the tags off and wear it as my own. Luckily for me, Steven changed his mind from thinking it looked "fine" to actually looking good.

Conclusion: Keep

Gorjana
Olympia Leaf Stud Earrings

Last, but not least, the earrings. I knew I would love these when I saw them. My stylist saw some earrings that were of similar style on my Pinterest board, so she sent these to me. And of course, I loved them. They have the simple beauty that I love in earrings, with just the right amount of interest. I also love that they can be casual or dressed up. My new favorite pair!

Conclusion: Keep

All in all, this fix feels like a win to me. I got the two things that I specifically asked for. I'm still going to keep the same stylist because she is very thoughtful. I've noticed that my previous fixes were sent out pretty quickly after they started working on them, and now they stay in the "Fix in Progress" for a few days before it gets shipped. Yay for my stylist, Sunrise!

P.S. Update from the last fix, I ended up returning the Loveappella Carnival Printed Knit Top. After only one wear, the fabric started pilling and fading across my chest and my shoulders. I figured it was wear from using my seat belt. I ended up returning it for a full refund.

Fix #6

In my note to my stylist I was very specific. I restated that I don't want anything sleeveless or cardigans or maxi dresses, and I asked for a more structured pencil skirt. Several people mentioned to me that I should have kept the pencil skirt from the last one, but really it came down to how it was made. It had a lining, which was great, but it would creep up above the waistline. And I preferred it to have a little more structure in the fabric. It was really close, but not quite right.

As soon as I saw that my fix shipped, I peeked at what they sent me. Three tops and two pencil skirts were on their way. I tried looking them up on the internet, but could not really find anything that matched with the tops. The skirts popped up, but there was no way of knowing what the pattern was going to be. So, I just had to wait. I was hoping that there would be something I could wear on my weekend getaway with Steven to celebrate our anniversary.

I got my fix on Friday and I was so happy it came before we left for the weekend. The first thing I noticed about this fix was that every item I pulled out looked fitted. Hooray!

Olive & Oak
Lida Knit Top

My stylist recommended pairing this top with my Siena cropped pant I got in my first fix. I love that she thought of the pieces that I already have and what would go with them. Yay, stylist! I thought that was super smart of her. I did try it together and it did look great. Sorry I forgot to get a picture of it. :\ This top was very comfy. I loved that it could be dressed up or down. It fit perfectly and I thought it was great for fall.

Conclusion: Keep

I actually loved this top so much that I took it with me on our weekend. Yay!

Loveappella
Carnival Printed Knit Top

This top fit perfectly. I loved the subtle print and the easy feel of this top. It is perfect for everyday wear. I also felt like it was a great addition to my wardrobe because I don't have anything like it. I also haven't seen anyone else have anything similar. Plus, I love 3/4 sleeves! They are my absolute favorite sleeve length. Super cute!

Conclusion: Keep

This one also came with me on my trip.  :)

Laila Jayde
Emme Suede Neckline Knit Top

This top was very similar in color to the lace overlay raglan top I got in fix #4, so my initial reaction was hesitant. It's a good thing that I like this color. One thing that I thought was great about this stylist was that she sent me a top that would look perfect with both skirts that she sent. It makes it even easier to keep. This was a really great basic shirt that I could wear any day of the week. Of course, I have to make the sleeves 3/4.

Conclusion: Keep

Renee C
Melisa Printed Pencil Skirt

I knew the second I saw this skirt that I was going to love it. I was just praying that it would be long enough. Thank goodness it was! I love big floral patterns and my pinterest board was full of them. Big props to my stylist for recognizing what kind of floral pattern I like instead of the disastrous attempt in fix #2. Even though this isn't the structured pencil skirt that I was hoping for, it totally works because it is mainly a dark color with bold print. I think the problem with a smaller pattern is that it shows variation easily, i.e. lumps and bumps.

Conclusion: Keep

Renee C
Grace Printed Pencil Skirt

This skirt was ok. It fit well, but the pattern was just too busy for me. I really prefer bigger patterns over small. Also, I wasn't feeling the colors. The kind of earthy tones just aren't me. Because of the amazing discount you get from keeping all five items, I had to keep it. So, if any of you are interested, I am willing to sell it for the discounted price. Please let me know, otherwise it is just going to sit in my closet.

Conclusion: Keep

I was so utterly thrilled by this fix. A big shout out to my stylist, Sunrise! I have been waiting to find a stylist that gets me and I am so excited that I finally have. I am going to asked for her again, for sure! I felt like she listened to everything I've been saying and was so thoughtful. She really paid attention to my requests and my reviews of the last fixes. And I loved everything so much, I actually wore 4 out of the 5 in one weekend. Total success. So happy.
