Fix #8

Another month, another fix. I didn't really have any requests this time, so I was just leaving it up to my stylist to send some stuff. I did request a red dress, but Sunrise said they don't have any that are long enough or have sleeves. Oh well.

41 Hawthorn
 Benton Cowl Neck Sweater

First off, I hate cowl neck sweaters. There is just way too much going on around my neck. So, I wasn't too optimistic when I put this one on. And well, it was horrible. Steven said I looked like a muppet. I really didn't like the color combo either, not enough contrast between the blue and gray. It just fell flat for me.

Conclusion: Return

Skies are Blue
Elam V-Neck Top

I wasn't really sure about this top when I first saw it, but thought it had promise. Really, I just didn't find it very flattering. It felt very secretarial "and not in a good way" as explained by Steven. It looks like I have a sweater vest on, which isn't really my thing. It was also really clingy and full of static. Rosie apparently needed to be in the picture, too.

Conclusion: Return

Bancroft
Trisha Clover Charm Layering Necklace

I was disappointed when I saw that a necklace was sent. I don't really wear necklaces and if I do, it is really simple. This necklace was way too long for me and not my style at all. I will be making sure I mark on my style profile to avoid necklaces in future fixes.

Conclusion: Return

Le Lis
Lexie Printed Aline Skirt

Not super excited about this skirt. Honestly, it was a little short for my comfort when I sat down. I don't think I would have kept it even if it was long enough. It was ok, but not great. It just didn't feel really special to me.

Conclusion: Return

Pixley
Eve Floral Skirt

I was looking forward to this skirt because it was really similar to one I had pinned on my pinterest board. It was a beautiful looking skirt. Unfortunately, it just wasn't flattering at all. Steven said it made my behind look weird and there was no way I was going to pay for that. It made me feel lumpy, too. It was a thicker fabric, which would be great for winter. The length was perfect, I just wasn't in love. The colors did remind me of an oil painting my Grandma had above her kitchen table. :)

Conclusion: Return

Overall, not a great fix. Like I said before, I wasn't specific with what I wanted and I got the results of that. My stylist has been so great with delivering exactly what I have asked for. I'm going to give her another chance to figure me out.

Fix #7

Of course I was excited to get my fix with the same stylist from last time, Sunrise. In my note to my stylist I had asked for a faux leather jacket and some beautiful earrings. In advance, sorry for the yellow tinted pictures. Today was filled with a flat tire, our other car over heating on the way to Instacare and finding out my 3 year old broke her collar bone. So, the pictures had to be taken in the lovely glow of the entry way chandelier.

Papermoon
Tille Embroidery Detail Knit Top

I found this online when I peeked at my fix. I knew it was just the wrong thing for me. I gave it a chance and tried it one anyway, There was no saving this top. It felt a little Peruvian poncho to me and Steven said it reminded him of Pocahantas. I'm sure both references are off, regardless, it wasn't good. Also, what is with the automatic pregnant look? Not cool. The only saving grace was that it was INCREDIBLY soft.

Conclusion: Return

Level 99
Giovanni Straight Leg Jeans

My stylist saw on my Pinterest board that I liked the idea of colored jeans. These jeans actually fit amazingly and I loved how they looked. Unfortunately, I wasn't in love with the rust color. Had they been something of a more pure hue, I think I would have liked them better. The cost made them less appealing as well. Maybe next time.

Conclusion: Return

Market & Spruce
Derick Asymmetrical Knit Top

I didn't know how I would feel about this shirt when I first pulled it out. I felt like it just wasn't that flattering. I didn't love the asymmetrical-ness of this shirt, with one side being longer than the other. It just felt weird. Boo.

Conclusion: Return

RD Style
Rhonda Faux Leather Jacket

Yay, I was really excited for this. I was nervous what Steven would think because he had previously mentioned that he thinks leather jackets look stupid. Unfortunately for him, I fell in love with this jacket. It fits perfect and is super comfy. I couldn't wait to take the tags off and wear it as my own. Luckily for me, Steven changed his mind from thinking it looked "fine" to actually looking good.

Conclusion: Keep

Gorjana
Olympia Leaf Stud Earrings

Last, but not least, the earrings. I knew I would love these when I saw them. My stylist saw some earrings that were of similar style on my Pinterest board, so she sent these to me. And of course, I loved them. They have the simple beauty that I love in earrings, with just the right amount of interest. I also love that they can be casual or dressed up. My new favorite pair!

Conclusion: Keep

All in all, this fix feels like a win to me. I got the two things that I specifically asked for. I'm still going to keep the same stylist because she is very thoughtful. I've noticed that my previous fixes were sent out pretty quickly after they started working on them, and now they stay in the "Fix in Progress" for a few days before it gets shipped. Yay for my stylist, Sunrise!

P.S. Update from the last fix, I ended up returning the Loveappella Carnival Printed Knit Top. After only one wear, the fabric started pilling and fading across my chest and my shoulders. I figured it was wear from using my seat belt. I ended up returning it for a full refund.

Fix #6

In my note to my stylist I was very specific. I restated that I don't want anything sleeveless or cardigans or maxi dresses, and I asked for a more structured pencil skirt. Several people mentioned to me that I should have kept the pencil skirt from the last one, but really it came down to how it was made. It had a lining, which was great, but it would creep up above the waistline. And I preferred it to have a little more structure in the fabric. It was really close, but not quite right.

As soon as I saw that my fix shipped, I peeked at what they sent me. Three tops and two pencil skirts were on their way. I tried looking them up on the internet, but could not really find anything that matched with the tops. The skirts popped up, but there was no way of knowing what the pattern was going to be. So, I just had to wait. I was hoping that there would be something I could wear on my weekend getaway with Steven to celebrate our anniversary.

I got my fix on Friday and I was so happy it came before we left for the weekend. The first thing I noticed about this fix was that every item I pulled out looked fitted. Hooray!

Olive & Oak
Lida Knit Top

My stylist recommended pairing this top with my Siena cropped pant I got in my first fix. I love that she thought of the pieces that I already have and what would go with them. Yay, stylist! I thought that was super smart of her. I did try it together and it did look great. Sorry I forgot to get a picture of it. :\ This top was very comfy. I loved that it could be dressed up or down. It fit perfectly and I thought it was great for fall.

Conclusion: Keep

I actually loved this top so much that I took it with me on our weekend. Yay!

Loveappella
Carnival Printed Knit Top

This top fit perfectly. I loved the subtle print and the easy feel of this top. It is perfect for everyday wear. I also felt like it was a great addition to my wardrobe because I don't have anything like it. I also haven't seen anyone else have anything similar. Plus, I love 3/4 sleeves! They are my absolute favorite sleeve length. Super cute!

Conclusion: Keep

This one also came with me on my trip.  :)

Laila Jayde
Emme Suede Neckline Knit Top

This top was very similar in color to the lace overlay raglan top I got in fix #4, so my initial reaction was hesitant. It's a good thing that I like this color. One thing that I thought was great about this stylist was that she sent me a top that would look perfect with both skirts that she sent. It makes it even easier to keep. This was a really great basic shirt that I could wear any day of the week. Of course, I have to make the sleeves 3/4.

Conclusion: Keep

Renee C
Melisa Printed Pencil Skirt

I knew the second I saw this skirt that I was going to love it. I was just praying that it would be long enough. Thank goodness it was! I love big floral patterns and my pinterest board was full of them. Big props to my stylist for recognizing what kind of floral pattern I like instead of the disastrous attempt in fix #2. Even though this isn't the structured pencil skirt that I was hoping for, it totally works because it is mainly a dark color with bold print. I think the problem with a smaller pattern is that it shows variation easily, i.e. lumps and bumps.

Conclusion: Keep

Renee C
Grace Printed Pencil Skirt

This skirt was ok. It fit well, but the pattern was just too busy for me. I really prefer bigger patterns over small. Also, I wasn't feeling the colors. The kind of earthy tones just aren't me. Because of the amazing discount you get from keeping all five items, I had to keep it. So, if any of you are interested, I am willing to sell it for the discounted price. Please let me know, otherwise it is just going to sit in my closet.

Conclusion: Keep

I was so utterly thrilled by this fix. A big shout out to my stylist, Sunrise! I have been waiting to find a stylist that gets me and I am so excited that I finally have. I am going to asked for her again, for sure! I felt like she listened to everything I've been saying and was so thoughtful. She really paid attention to my requests and my reviews of the last fixes. And I loved everything so much, I actually wore 4 out of the 5 in one weekend. Total success. So happy.

Fix #5

41Hawthorn
Breyson Pleated Tab-Sleeve Blouse

This is a shirt from the same company of the orange shirt I loved a couple of fixes ago. I loved the structure of the fabric and that I could make the sleeves 3/4. I didn't love the pleat detail in the front, but the pleats in the back looked really pretty. I felt that my shape got lost under it because it was such a dark color. Wasn't my favorite.

Conclusion: Return

Market & Spruce
Aleah Heathered V-Neck Dolman Top

Why I was sent another dolman top, I will never understand. This just is not a good look on me. It is way too loose for my liking and makes me look like one giant blob. Looking at the picture, I actually think that the color is pretty, so that's one saving grace.

Conclusion: Return

Papermoon
Taluca Striped Pencil Skirt

I've been asking for more pencil skirts that are simple in pattern so that they can be versatile. This skirt was one of the better ones I've received. It had a lining and zipper, so it was more structured than previous skirts sent to me. I was really on the fence with this one. Steven liked it, but I didn't feel that I would have that many things to wear with it. The real deciding factor was the price. I wasn't willing to pay that much for something I wasn't sure about.

Conclusion: Return

Mystree
Brad Striped Jersey Maxi Dress

Another item that I don't know why they sent me. I have specified over and over again to not send sleeveless items because I don't like wearing cardigans or undershirts for coverage. This dress was really comfy and the fit was great. I thought it was a great little dress, but for someone else. I don't think I'm a maxi dress kind of girl. Steven said it looked like a dress made out of sweatpants. I disagree, and I think this is a wonderful dress if you are into that sort of thing.

Conclusion: Return

Bay to Baubles
Nia Beaded Teardrop Earrings

I made mention in my notes for this fix that I missed getting earrings last time. I had also mentioned to reference my pinterest board for ideas. Welp, I got sent these that look like nothing on my board. I'm a very simple jewelry person and these were just too much. I can appreciate them, but like the maxi dress, they would be perfect for someone else.

Conclusion: Return

So, this fix was kind of a bust. I wasn't too upset about it though because I had recently received a $20 credit from Stitch Fix just for being a customer. I ended up not losing any money, so I'm not that upset about it. I am going to ask for another fix right away, though. Hopefully that one will be more successful.

Fix #4

Market & Spruce
Bernadette Lace Overlay Raglan Top

I was super excited to try on this top. I am a sucker for raglan tops and I was surprised by the beautiful colors. I love the lace overlay on the front that adds interest and allows me to dress it up a bit if I want. Loved everything about this shirt. Perfect for me.

Conclusion: Keep

Market & Spruce
Sawyer Space Dye Dolman Sleeve Knit Top

I was looking forward to this shirt. I had seen a few other women get a similar style in their fixes and I was curious whether or not it would work for me. This was the hardest one to decide if I should keep it or not. I really wanted to like it, but I just felt that it wasn't very flattering. Steven said the shape reminded him of a big bag of dog food. I think it's a great shirt, just not for me.

Conclusion: Return

41Hawthorn
Moni Stud Detailed 3/4 Sleeve Blouse

I did peek before my box arrived and saw that I was getting this little number. I had seen a lot of other women get this and I thought it was just awful. While Steven said that the fit was actually pretty good, I couldn't get over the feeling that I should be one of the men in "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers." Maybe if it was a different color it would have been better. I don't know if I could ever get over the studs though. Just not my thing.

Conclusion: Return

Renee C
Melisa Printed Pencil Skirt

I had asked for a pencil skirt with some color since I already have a black one. I was not expecting something with as much pattern as this skirt. The problem I had with this skirt was the thinness of the material. I like the fabric to have some stiffness to it and I felt this showed every lump and bump. I loved the length and fit and even the pattern grew on me, but the fabric just wasn't quite right.

Conclusion: Return

Fate
Ellenwood Lace Detail Cardigan

This cardigan was fine. I don't really wear cardigans, so it has to be something really special for me to want it. It did have a nice lace detail, which added some interest. Maybe if it was a more exciting color I would have considered it. I already have so much black in my wardrobe, it doesn't really add much.

Conclusion: Return

There were some pieces that came close, but just weren't quite right. If I don't absolutely love everything about it, I don't keep it. I do however love love love the raglan top and am so happy to have it in my closet.

Fix #3

So, I decided to peek online before my fix came in order to get my expectations corrected. I did this by going online and clicking on the checkout survey after the package was sent, but hadn't arrived at my house. I then searched for the items online, but only found a few of the things sent. I was really glad I did this! I'm not someone who loves surprises and it helped me to adjust my expectations.

Papermoon
Hamlet Lace Detail Blouse

I was really excited to see this. I loved the color from the start. I've been trying to add variety in colors to my wardrobe and this was perfect. While I'm not usually a fan of the loose fitted tops, I really loved this. The fabric had just enough structure and sheerness that I didn't feel like I was wearing a tent.

I loved the fit in the shoulders and the fun details in the back.

One great thing about Stitch Fix is that you can try the stuff on at home with items you already own. I discovered that it looked great with a skirt, too. This made it more desirable to me because of the versatility.

Love, love, love!

Conclusion: Keep

Towne & Reese
Katharine Mini-Triangle Drop Earrings

After the last two earring sets sent to me I decided that I needed to pin some earrings that I liked. It totally paid off. I had previously pinned some earrings almost exactly like these. I was hesitant about keeping these because I've never had earrings this long before. Also, I have similar earrings already in silver, but they are shorter. After wearing them for a bit, I really liked them. I own very little gold jewelry, so this is a great addition.

Conclusion: Keep

Papermoon
Kasidy Geo Print Skirt

I wasn't too excited about this skirt. I had found one similar online before it came and I wasn't sure how I felt about it. I do love the graphic pattern of the skirt. I had pinned a graphic black and white skirt earlier, so I can see where the inspiration came from.

The length was perfect and it was really soft. Because it was so flowy, I felt that I would need to tuck in my shirt, but the fabric was so thin that I felt it looked bulky. I didn't really like where it sat on my waist. Also, a lot of my dress clothes are black and white, so it wouldn't add that much variation to my wardrobe. Even though my husband thought it looked good, I wasn't completely in love.

Conclusion: Return

Colourworks
Mallory Ruffle Back Open Cardigan

This cardigan was extremely soft and fit very well. Unfortunately, I have a gray cardigan very similar to this already. I also wasn't a huge fan of the ruffle in the back.

Conclusion: Return

Market & Spruce
Persia Printed Maxi Dress

I have specifically requested no sleeveless dresses, but my stylist sent the cardigan along with this for some added coverage. It actually didn't look that bad with a shirt underneath. I don't like wearing cardigans with fitted dresses because I feel like you lose the small waist effect. The fabric was SO soft and it was super comfortable to wear. Like I mentioned before, a lot of my dressy clothes are black and white, so I didn't feel like I wanted another one.

Also, for some reason it made my butt look pointy. I have no idea how it did this, but it was not ok.

Conclusion: Return

I was really happy with this fix. I found some pieces that I absolutely love. I feel like things are going to get back on track.

Fix #2

I was really excited for my next fix to come, hoping that the stylist would better understand what I was looking for.

Skies are Blue
Page Flutter Sleeve Blouse

This looked horrible on me. I am not a fan of the flowy clothes because they tend to make me look a million times bigger. That was the case with this top. Steven said it looked like a mu-mu. No good. I also didn't love the small print floral. I prefer it to be a larger print.

Conclusion: Returned

Pixley
Edmond Chevron Print Henley Shirt

This shirt surprised me. I wasn't expecting much when I first saw it, but I actually liked it. The fabric was extremely comfortable and it definitely would be something new and different to my wardrobe. I didn't love the colors, though. I was on the fence about this one. I liked the fit and style, but not the print. I've decided that unless I am completely in love with something, I'm not going to keep it.

Conclusion: Return

Pixley
Kathy Striped Fit & Flare Dress

This was a super cute dress. It fit wonderfully and made me look awesome. Unfortunately it was a few inches too short. It was frustrating to me because I simply couldn't wear it and it felt like a wasted item.

Conclusion: Return

Kut From The Kloth
Kate Distressed Boyfriend Jean

Oh, boy! I really don't like distressed clothing and these looked awful. The fit was off and wasn't doing me any favors. They didn't stand a chance.

Conclusion: Return

I was also sent some earrings, but they felt really clunky to me.

Conclusion: Return

This fix was a bust. I was actually pretty upset and wrote an email to them explaining why I was disappointed. They were super great about it and actually credited me $20 to cover the styling fee. I learned that I needed to be more specific about what I can and can't wear when it comes to modesty. I also went through all of my pins on my Pinterest board and edited the captions to reflect my opinion.

It is important to be as specific as possible. They really are trying to make you happy and I was really impressed with how they handled my complaint.

Fix #1

I got this fix a few months ago. I was super excited about it. I didn't take pictures of the items I got, unfortunately.

41Hawtorn
McQue Solid Lace Sleeve Blouse

The first was this top. I was really excited for this. It looked ok on. It felt a little too billowy for me and the sleeves were lace, which is too sheer for me. Also, Steven said it fit like a garbage bag. He prefers things a little more fitted. While it was beautiful, it just wasn't flattering. I also need non-sheer sleeves for modesty.

Conclusion: Return

Kut From The Kloth
Siena Capri Pant

I loved these pants! They looked great on me and I felt it was a great addition to my wardrobe. The pants are really soft and very high quality. I like that I can dress it up or down, depending on the event. They are green, so that has been fun to have some variation and different options.

Conclusion: Keep

Le Lis
Nene Striped Midi Dress

This dress felt great. It was really flattering on me and the skirt was extremely soft. I especially loved the length that hit right below my knee. I only had one problem with it, the lack of sleeves. They were barely not long enough. I really debated over this one, but ended up deciding that it wouldn't work.

Conclusion: Return

Just USA
Morrie Boyfriend Denim Jacket

This just wasn't working for me. It made me look like a big box. I'm not really a fan of denim jackets and it had some distressed details that I'm not fond of.

Conclusion: Return

I was also sent some earrings that I ended up returning because they were similar to ones I already had.

For my first fix I felt pretty happy. I found something that I absolutely loved and several of the items were close to hitting the mark.
