Fix #13

After the last fix, I was ready to say goodbye to Stitch Fix. I emailed them and explained why I was leaving and what I thought could be improved on. They were very nice when they responded and asked if I would be willing to try again with a senior stylist assigned to me. After some back and forth, I agreed to give them one more shot if they credited the styling fee.

I was impressed when I got my note from my stylist. I had asked for something to wear for an upcoming audition. She was very thoughtful and even researched the character I am going for. I was also happy to see that everything was fitted.

Loveappella
Fifi Lace Overlay Knit Top

This was one sent to me for my audition. I instantly fell in love with it. It has a lace overlay on the front and back. It is very comfortable and can be easily dressed up or down. This was Steven's favorite piece as well. My only complaint is that I felt it was an inch or two too long.

Conclusion: Keep

Skies are Blue
Disanto Lace Detail Top

I loved the fit of this shirt and the color. It has a lace detail on the front that went too far down the chest for me. Steven actually really liked this shirt, but I couldn't get over the placement of the lace. It felt bib-like.

Conclusion: Return

Loveappella
Celso Mesh Detail Knit Top

I was on the fence with this one. It was very comfortable and I loved the fit. It would be a great every day shirt, which I need. It has a black mesh detail near the shoulder on each side. Steven thought I was it was too busy. Black is such a still color and I think had it been a blue or white, it would have worked better. I feel like it overpowered me a little.

Conclusion: Return

Loveappella
Genifer Tie-Back Knit Top

This was the other shirt sent for my audition. My hair is covering it, but I actually liked the neckline. It was in between a scoop and a boat neck. I loved the fit and the comfort. It had a bow in the back that felt strange to me. It felt too feminine, if that makes sense. Steven liked this one, too. To me it was just ok, didn't hate or love it.

Conclusion: Return

Margaret M
Christiana Skirt

Steven and I both loved this skirt. It fit great and I felt like I had a lot of options in my current wardrobe that could go with it. It was a little thin, so I wouldn't be able to tuck my shirt in unless I wanted a huge bump. The big downside was the price, $80. This is not an $80 skirt to me. It's too bad, because I really liked it.

Conclusion: Return

For another shot at Stitch Fix, they did pretty well. I didn't have many complaints, just a few minor things I didn't like. I'm not sure if I am going to continue with them or not. If I do, I would have to alternate between Wantable and Stitch Fix each month because of my budget. Overall, I feel like they did a decent job to redeem themselves.

Wantable #1

After all of the disappointment with Stitch Fix, I decided to try Wantable. I was really excited to see what I would get from this new company.

Jack
Savannah Jacket

I knew I wouldn't like this the moment I pulled it out because I don't like jackets that don't have closures. It was very similar to one I got in fix 10 that I sent back. Plus, I already have a leather jacket and don't feel the need for two. The one think I actually did like was the length in the back. I thought it was cute and flattering. Also, it does have pockets, so that was a plus.

Conclusion: Return

Jack
Alfred Jacket

When I first saw this I was disappointed because I thought it was a cardigan. After putting it on, I changed my mind. I loved that it had buttons so that it could close. It also has pockets, making it more functional. I thought the back added just the right amount of interest to make it a special piece. I also like that even though it has a lot of fabric in front, it didn't totally cover my figure when closed. When Steven first saw this, he was not a fan. His exact word was "Barf!" He said it was too weird for him. However, I really like it, so I'm keeping it.

Conclusion: Keep

Kut from the Kloth
Mia Toothpick Skinny

I'm wearing these ones in the previous pictures. I knew I was going to like these because Kut from the Kloth pants always look good on me. These were just great skinnys and fit better than my current jeans. Yay for more jeans!

Conclusion: Keep

Jack
Rosella Skirt

I loved the weight of the fabric of this skirt. It is a thicker knit, which I love because I can't stand flimsy pencil skirts. I loved the length and fit. The placement of the stripes worked to flatter my figure. This would be a great addition to my wardrobe.

Conclusion: Keep

Project Social T
Jaime Tee

I wasn't too sure about the color on this one. It's cream colored and felt really neutral. However, it is very comfortable and would be a great every day shirt, which I am in need of. I like the fit and the cut.

Conclusion: Keep

Just like Stitch Fix, if you keep everything you get a 20% discount, so I ended up keeping the leather jacket in hopes that I can sell it. If you would like it, I am selling for $64, which is the discounted price, plus $5 shipping if it applies. Please let me know if you are interested. I would hate for it to sit forever in my closet.

For my first Wantable style edit I was pleasantly surprised. I ended up liking almost everything and wasn't expecting to at all. I am looking forward to future boxes.

Fix #12

After the last few disappointing fixes, I wrote a strongly worded note to my stylist about how unhappy I had been with the service. I explained why I was frustrated and that I would not be continuing if things didn't turn around. I was interested to see how they responded.

Fun2Fun
Walden V-Neck Blouse

I actually really liked the color and it seemed like a good basic shirt that could be very versatile. My only reservations was that it was so full of static. From the moment when it arrived to three days later, it was so full of static it just clung to me. Also, not a big fan of the capped sleeves. My sister said it made my arms look weird. I was really on the fence with this one because I could see the possibilities.

Conclusion: Return

Loveappella
Kiana Crew Neck Knit Top

I thought this top was pretty cute, however my husband hated it. He didn't like the different sizes of stripes. Also, from straight on it made me look kind of boxy. Also, it was really expensive for a t-shirt. Ultimately, I'm not going to keep something my husband hates.

Conclusion: Return

41Hawthorn
Berneen Dolman Knit Top

I don't get it. This is the third Dolman top I've received!  I apparently wasn't clear the other times when I stated how much I hate Dolman tops and please never send me one again. One thing I've struggled with Stitch Fix is communication between the stylists. It seems that messages never get through or they don't review enough of the previous fixes. I don't mind the pattern or color. I do mind the sagging look of my arms.

Conclusion: Return

Market & Spruce
Saige Knit Dress

Welp, for starters it was too short for me. Also, the knit fabric was not very forgiving. I like to have less flimsy material for my dresses. Not to mention the crazy lines that hurt me eyes. It didn't look very flattering and added a lot of weight to my hips.

Conclusion: Return

Skies are Blue
Ferris Mixed Material Collared Top

I've been asking for more color and I get black. Yippee. Besides that, I actually really liked the fit and cut of this shirt. It looked flattering, loved the sleeves, and could easily be dressed up or down. I should have moved my hair for the picture because you can't see the pockets. It is a good staple and because I wasn't keeping anything else, I decided I didn't want to lose my styling fee.

Conclusion: Keep

Well, I'm going to take a break from Stitch Fix. The items that I have kept, I really love, but there were way more misses than hits. Out of 60 items sent to me over the last year, I have kept 15. My main problem was that I never really felt listened to and that my style was never understood. There also weren't too many really special pieces that I felt really excited about.

I have decided to try a different company called Wantable, which does the exact same thing. I really love the service and am hoping to find a company that meets my needs better. I'll probably only use Stitch Fix again if I have a credit.

Fix #11

41 Hawthorn
Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse

I just don't love these shapeless blouses. I felt that the length was too long for me and I didn't love the side slits which gave the shirt flaps. The color is wrong, too. I don't think green is my color. I think the blouse is pretty, but the color overwhelming for my complexion. I've seen this look work for others, but I wasn't feeling it.

Conclusion: Return

RD Style
Lana Lace Detail Pencil Skirt

My stylist sent this to me after seeing a similar style on my Pinterest board. The length was perfect and it fit really well. There is something about it that I can't put my finger on. It doesn't excite me. Maybe it just feels too basic. Also, I have a black lace dress already that I don't wear very much anymore, so I don't know how much I would choose to wear it. Overall it is a perfectly acceptable skirt, but I don't want to pay $80 for something I'm not looking forward to wearing. Maybe if it was a different color I would like it more.

Conclusion: Return

Skies are Blue
Tuscany Embellished Side Detail Knit Top

I wasn't quite sure about this one when I saw it. I do love stripes, but the side detail was a little strange to me. I think I would have preferred it to be a zipper instead of sequins. The main problem about this shirt is how boxy it is. My body type is rectangular, so I really need clothes that give me curves. Probably would make a great maternity shirt.

Conclusion: Return

Laila Jayde
Bali V-Neck Top

This top is just weird to me. The color is strange and doesn't reflect anything from my Pinterest board. I don't think it is a good color for me either. It felt way too long for me as well. Also, the fabric feels like a microfiber couch. It doesn't hang on my body well either, so clingy. There was nothing going right for this top.
Conclusion: Return

Bancroft
Jayda Twisted Loop Earrings

These were nice and simple. I don't really have big earrings like this, and there is a reason for that. I don't really like big earrings. Steven said they just looked too big. Also, it drove me nuts that they didn't hang the same way. One was always to the side and the other was always facing forward.  I considered keeping these just so I wouldn't lose my styling fee.

Conclusion: Return

Well, this is the second one in a row where I have sent everything back. I feel like my stylist was really trying, but everything was just missing the mark. I'm going to give them one more chance, but if I send back all my items next time, I'm just going to have to say goodbye.

Fix #10

I couldn't find anything that was sent to me online before I got it, so it was all a surprise. I was excited because I had such a winner last time with this stylist. I was very hopeful.

Absolutely
Bary Boat Neck Pullover Sweater

Nope! The minute I pulled this out, I knew it wasn't going to work. I tried it on and nothing changed. I had asked for more color in my wardrobe and had specified that I don't like loud patterns or busy prints, but I prefer solids. This was an attempt to give me more color. It actually fit really well and Steven said it looked better on than when I first showed it to him. After looking at the picture of myself, it looks cuter than I thought. I just don't love it.

I think the only people that can pull off this look are these fellas.

Conclusion: Return

Kut From The Kloth
Simmons Bootcut Jean

When I took these out of the box my daughter said, "Those are big." After converting to skinny jeans, anything else feels like an excess of fabric. While these pants might be cute and fit perfectly, I just don't like bootcut jeans anymore. I have since taken bootcut off of my style profile.

Conclusion: Return

Gilli
Eleonora Dress

I'm always nervous when my stylist sends me a dress. First off, it is way too bohemian for me. I have told them time and time again that I don't like flowy things. When will they learn? Second, it is just too short, so even if I did like it, it wouldn't work. Also, what is up with the criss cross thing in the front? This dress is not even close to my style.

Conclusion: Return

Kut From The Kloth
Maisha Ponte and Faux Leather Jacket

When I saw that my stylist had sent me a faux leather jacket, I didn't understand why because I just bought one. While I love my jacket I already own, I don't feel it necessary to have two leather jackets. Also, my stylist said that she sent it because she had seen similar styles on my pinterest board. Really? I just looked at my board and I don't see anything that looks like this. All of the leather jackets I pinned have zippers, first of all. This one feels like a glorified cardigan. No no no. It did fit amazingly, though.

Conclusion: Return

Zad
Bessa Enamel Clover Earrings

Oh boy! Not even close to my style. Whenever I ask for earrings I always make sure that I ask them to please look at my pinterest board for ideas. Are they seeing stuff I'm not seeing? Check it out for yourself: Stitch Fix Ideas. Do these earrings look like the ones I pinned? I could totally see someone else wearing these and it working, but not for me.

Conclusion: Return

What is up with that fix? I was so excited because this fix was done by the same stylist as last time. I feel like it was a totally different person. Maybe last fix was a fluke. Who knows? Is my style that hard? Am I being too harsh?

Fix #9

I actually got this fix back in December. I scheduled a new fix immediately after sending back everything from last time. I didn't want to wait until January to get some new clothes. I didn't put anything specific in my note to my stylist.

When my package arrived, I was interested to see that I had a new stylists, Elisa. I had asked to keep the same stylist from last time, to give her another chance. I wonder if you don't get to keep the client if they hated everything. Anyway, I was excited to see what she sent.

RD Style
Adriene Dress

This dress is amazing. It fits wonderfully and makes me feel great. I was thrilled about the length. It has some spandex in the fabric, so it keeps everything in just the right place. Steven said that I can't wear this to church, but any other time would be just fine with him. Love, love, love this dress!

Conclusion: Keep

Kut From the Kloth
Jonathan Skinny Corduroy

I was able to find this one online when I peeked at my fix. I wasn't sure what color I would get. They are actually dark green, but I honestly had no idea until I read the tag. They just looked black to me. They fit perfectly, as if they were made specifically for me. Steven told me that when you find pants that fit, you just have to get them. I agree. I'm glad to be adding something totally new to my wardrobe. I think the last time I had corduroy pants, I was in seventh grade and I got them from the boys section. According to my stylist, these pants are totally on trend right now. Hooray!

Conclusion: Keep

Gilli
Sheri Graphic Print Pencil Skirt

My stylist just "had to send this" because she saw a similar one on my pinterest board. I was a little skeptical because I had one similar sent to me in a previous fix that I didn't like. I was more than pleasantly surprised when I slipped this skirt on. It fit perfectly!  I have learned that not all pencil skirts are created equal. This one was a great length and I feel confident wearing it. Another winner for Steven, too.

Conclusion: Keep

Market & Spruce
Yuna Chevron Pointelle Knit Sweater

There were lots of different colors of this one online. I was happy to see that it was a pretty navy. Even though I have a lot of blue in my closet, I need to retire some of those pieces, so this was a nice addition. Honestly, I was on the fence about this one. I couldn't decide whether or not I really wanted it. It fit great and the only sweaters I have are cheap, shrunken ones from Old Navy that I bought seven years ago. Steven convinced me to keep it, and I'm glad I did.

Conclusion: Keep

Market & Spruce
Colobri Plaid Printed Tab-Sleeve Shirt

I was really hesitant about this one when I peeked at it online. It is slightly out of my style comfort zone. I was expecting it to be made out of flannel, but it actually is a light blouse material. I liked the colors. The only thing I wasn't too fond of was the length of the back. It felt a little like a butt flap to me, but Steven said it doesn't look that bad. It only made sense to keep to get the discount. One thing I like about it is that it has more of a grown-up feel to it, which is one of my main goals about my new clothes. I actually has grown on me and become one of my favorite shirts. And yes, that is a cat tail in the picture.

Conclusion: Keep

Overall, I was really happy with this fix. I got some pieces that I loved and my style comfort zone was expanded a little bit. I requested the same stylist for next time and I'm excited to see what I get. She seems to understand me pretty well, so far.
